Have you ever wondered why you do what you do? This statement could mean why you do a certain job, why you respond in a certain manner, or maybe something about your personal life.
My hope is that you do it because you are passionate about what you do. Everyone deserves the chance to do something they are passionate about; family, work, fun…whatever.
I had the opportunity to discuss retirement with a fellow from California while we were on holidays together. We were both discussing what it took financially and when we would be ready. At almost the same time our wives spoke up from behind their magazines and said, “You guys will never fully retire. What would you do?” To which we both laughed and almost at the same time said, “Yeah, we really love what we do.”
It was an insightful little dialogue. I always knew I LOVED what we do at Project X. We have awesome people, clients, and problems to solve. I wonder what this means about my psyche?
In the end, we both agreed that our dad’s had seemed the same way, but seemed to be finding a way to make it work.
I wish you many a day where you can say “I love [this]!” Replace it with whatever you are passionate about and relish the moment.
