Yesterdays CoffeeCAST – redo

As with last weeks CoffeeCAST, yesterday’s conversation with Mark Dymond also did not seem to make it to the iTunes service.

So in connection with yesterdays post, here is the resubmit post for the CoffeeCAST.

I listened to the discussion. Really interesting how being with people in their environment helps understand how they see the world.
One of my consulting techniques was always early in an engagement to get a complete tour of the company. I did a lot of work with mining companies and have been down in coal mines, salt mines, nickle mines, copper mines, nickle smelters, and refining plants. Others that come to mind are printing operations, all sorts of manufacturing operations, electric arc furnaces, clean rooms, and cheque sorting. I really found that the payoff in helping understand the people was extraordinary. I realize now that I never really toured the back office in a bank or retail operation. I would love to have a tour of a big automated warehouse.
Mark, have you been any back office, repair shop and control rooms at your big client?
