Fast Cars and Fast … moving Projects

Often we are brought in to help break through the boundaries of approach and context to help clients simplify projects and get them done less expensively and faster.

Don't we all want that.  The challenge is that not all situations can manifest themselves that way.  There are many reasons for that.  The one I wanted to point out today is:

Readiness.

(OK Jim, go crazy).

I have been thinking of some breakthrough additions to our Rapid Results approach by delving deeper into Agile as well as evolving some of our collaboration and repository tools.  I realized as I started lining up some changes and additions that this was all well and good if people were ready.  This means our clients as well as us the practitioners.

One of the challenges is to reframe our thinking.  We need to change our perspectives and embrace the opportunity.  Here is an example.  When introducing a new tool or method I have often received the response

It needs to be a by product of the process and not a step

I could not agree more, but sometimes that is not possible.  But wait.  How about you help me meet that objective and not just park it due to the objection.

Moving fast does not mean we move loose.  Working together with trust and colaboration can really accelerate all of our objectives.

Thanks, ibm laptops. I found the questions really helped. Some of my answers showed me some things I need to work on.

Good stuff as per usual, thanks. I do hope this kind of thing gets more exposure.

Great comment. So what motivates us? If we know why we need to do something, we will be motivated to take action.
Take time to brainstorm about why.
