One thing I have learned during my training on Alfred Adler’s psychology was the importance of encouragement . Adler explained why we tend to discourage ourselves. Adler said that all human motivation came from the organism striving to become. He talked about living "On Purpose." Now if we are striving to become it means that we want to be something we are not at this time. That can result in an inferiority feeling.
However if we are feeling encouraged we realize that we are doing fine and we are making progress. If we are feeling down, the realization tends to discourage us more. So what do we do to encourage ourselves when we are feeling down.
I often ask myself some questions and work on giving at least three answers with feeling. These questions are:
- What is great about you life right now?
- What are you thankful for?
- Who do you love?
- Who loves you?
You will find the answer help you realize you are on the road to your purpose.
The question are also good to ask somebody who is feeling down, tired or discouraged. You will be amazed how much it helps them.
