Coffeecup_17
Welcome to the 18th Episode of the CoffeeCAST with Stephen Hayward of Project X.

As of late I have been interested to see how Process and Organizational change are supported in Enterprise Data Warehousing as the business intelligence gets plugged back into the business continuum.  Today Ted Aslanidis of KPMG is joining me to give us some perspective of his on implementation change and transformation.  We ended up covering in our chat:

  • Brief intro to Ted and his move
  • Process and Change Management
  • Implementing Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Organizational Change
  • Readiness – a favorite of mine
  • Program Management and Change Management – hand in hand
    • Turning your biggest opponent into your champion
    • Grassroots support generation
  • People Change
    • Francis Hartman of University of Calgary
    • Don’t suppress the information
    • Blogging as a vehicle for change management
  • Culture and Leadership

I hope you enjoy the conversation.  If you have any thoughts join in the conversation by posting a comment or drop me an email.  Offer up a comment and let us know your thoughts.

Update:  since publishing this today, I ran into a great blog post by James Governor at MonkChips that talks about Lenova and their use of the Blogosphere.

I agree with Jim that the sound quality on this is a real distractions. Perhaps we need to find a quieter coffee shop.
Ted forgot to mention the wack’m over the head and dictate the this-is-what-it-is approach. Kidding!
    Great session.

Your observation is true. As you mention, it is often the process of telling someone the question/problem that helps you visualize to get the answer or support an answer already concluded.
At the same time we need to be aware of more than just ourselves and how this process effects those around us.
In a lot of these initiatives we want people to feel empowered and involved. We need to watch how these behaviours may negatively impact these goals.

I really think this conversation was really important. Such a shame that the audio quality was not better.
A thought on communication and why people do not take your advice. Often people are asking questions to help them advance their own thinking and not wanting your opinion. One of my teachers talked about a process called psychoclarity. His idea is that when we say out loud our thoughts we are testing them. So maybe the discussion is really about helping the person with their process of psychoclarity rather than them soliciting your opinion.
It will be fun to get Ted’s reaction to Rapid Results. Simple ideas are often some of the most difficult to put into practice.
    Great conversation.

Great conversation. I was reading an article on James Governor’s blog where he actually talks about how Lenova is using blog monitoring as part of their embracing the chatter. Check this out http://www.redmonk.com/jgovernor/archives/001799.html
